FrontPage Website Templates

FrontPage Website Templates are great - for FrontPage users!

FrontPage is an excellent tool for a novice website builder. Dreamweaver is often referred to as the tool of choice for more experienced website techies, but FrontPage combines a familiar Microsoft-based interface with simple tools to provide an easy option for many website creators.

It's nice to find an online template store that sells both FrontPage website templates and plain HTML website templates (for use with Dreamweaver or anything else) format. Click here for an example of such a template store.

What is a FrontPage template?

The FrontPage web template is a great addition to the FrontPage tool. For a website template to be labelled as a “Frontpage template”, you can expect it to have made use of the built-in FrontPage navigation / link bars. This means that you can graphically drag your website pages into a hierarchy, within Frontpage, and your menus will automatically update themselves to reflect that hierarchy.

Main (home / front) page menus will show the top-level navigation. Sub pages may or may not show child navigation, depending on the template.

What kind of hosting will your FrontPage-generated website need?

In some cases, a FrontPage template will require FrontPage server extensions to be present on your web host. If the template description / see in action doesn’t specifically state this, be sure to check with the designer. It is not a requirement of using a FrontPage template, that you have server extensions! All of these FrontPage templates can be published to a folder on your hard-drive, and uploaded to any web hosting provider – even Unix / Linux hosts. No need for expensive Windows hosting and finicky server extensions!
