Having sorted out the look and feel of your website - you've chosen a template, modified graphics if you need to, put in your logo and so on - you need to focus on writing the content of your website.
Traditional marketing and sales copywriting does not necessarily work on the Internet. Website visitors do not take time to read and absorb - they are looking for information and expect quick and easy delivery of that information. If they do not find what they want easily, they will move on to the next website just waiting for them to visit.
You need to write your content for this market - writing for the web! Your website needs to be easily readable, with punchy headlines and the use of bullet points where appropriate.
In addition, it is imperative that you create clear navigation paths through your website, and make your website as usable as possible. If you make it difficult to use, or confuse your visitors, they will simply click away to another website. You should also make your website accessible to as many people as possible - from those with disabilities, to those viewing it through restrictive media such as WebTV and the like.
